Dear Parents, Caregivers
WHOOPING COUGH There are known cases of this contagious disease in the community at the moment. It starts with a runny nose and then a cough that can build up to violent bouts of coughing lasting for weeks. It is infectious for 3 weeks after the cough starts and can be especially severe in babies under a year old.
Please check that your child has had their booster shot at 4 years of age and again at year 7. Our year 7 students have just had their booster vaccine, any that were absent for this must have theirs at their GP.
Keep your children home from school if they are unwell.

SCHOOL CANTEEN The new canteen has delicious aromas wafting out every day. Please support our new chef from Spain! - Queralt Pages-Scott. The students will soon be taking part in a survey to find the most popular food. We will be staying with ‘healthy’, but have a varied menu. ‘Lucky Lunch’ – a student who has bought from the canteen the previous week will win a lunch voucher - to be presented at Monday’s assembly each week.
UNIFORM We still have a number of students with incorrect or no shoes and without warm enough clothing. We have plenty of winter stock and we sell our uniform at cost price. I will be making contact with parents or caregivers of students who tell me they do not have regulation shoes.
SCHOOL SORES Please cover sore knees etc, especially for school and sport. If they get infected please take them to your doctor. We can only treat minor injuries at school.
NAGAIZUMI CHO EXCHANGE STUDENTS We welcome our second group of 10 Japanese students - Tuesday August 16th until Monday 22nd. We look forward to this return visit and will ensure they have a great Wanganui experience. We require billets for these students, so if you are interested, please phone the office for an appointment to discuss this with me. We will have 9 girls, 1 boy.
TRAFFIC Thank you to those parents who are observing the road code and NOT parking in the wrong place – on the yellow line.
The Board of Trustees wishes to advise the community that they have requested that the Ministry of Education appoint a Limited Statutory Manager to support the school. Carol Lynch has been appointed to this role. We look forward to working together.
