Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whanau
Well we have reached the end of another 11 week term!! All students and teachers fully deserve a well-earned break!!
Firstly I would like to thank Mr Keith Webb who has been teaching in Room 7. Mr Webb has done a fantastic job and we wish him well with his future endeavours. Room 7 parents will be advised of term 3 arrangements on Friday.
We welcome back in term 3 Ms Diana Ghinda who has been in France on an Immersion Award.
Term 3 is going to be a very busy term with the annual Arts Festival. We have Dance, Pasifika, Music, Wearable Art, Kapahaka and Drama happening at the moment and I’m very excited to see the finished performance, to be held at the end of term 3. If you have some spare time to help behind the scenes in preparation for the show, please come and have a chat with me.
FOLLOWING THE CORRECT PROCESS I would like to remind you of the process you need to follow when advising the school of bullying. Your first contact must be made with the Principal. Please do not approach the members of the Board to address your concerns. Remember, our Board Members are parents too, and are often at school to collect their child. It is the Boards responsibility to govern our school. The Principal manages it. Your concern is very important to me. I will make time to talk with you. Should you wish to make contact with the Members of the Board, please do so in writing.
CANTEEN. Please do not forget that the canteen will be closed for the first week of Term 3. Our wonderful Canteen Lady, Queralt is returning to her homeland of Spain for a holiday and we look forward to her return, week 2 of Term 3!!
SCHOOL FEES These are greatly appreciated as they go towards resources, sports and the technology department. Fees are only $25.00 per term. Automatic payments can also be arranged. Thank you to those who have paid, or are paying term by term.
RUGBY WORLD CUP ROAD SHOW This is being held at the War Memorial Hall on Saturday 16th July from 10am – 1pm .
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING:
It’s wonderful hearing of student’s success. Don’t hesitate to inform me of your child’s success.
ROC CENTRE Have we forgotten? Are our students getting their homework done at home? That’s great! If you would like your child to attend the ROC centre after school, please do not hesitate to make contact. A teacher will always be in the library to assist with any help the students need. Queralt is providing a delicious afternoon tea for the students. This is free of charge and a great way keeping up with homework!
FACEBOOK!! I would like to bring to your attention the cyber bullying that is taking place online. I have had a number of parents come in to school, concerned about their child being bullied on Facebook. Please remember a child must be the age of 13 to have their own profile. Please keep an eye on your child when on facebook! Their safety is a major concern
CELL PHONES Once again there is text bullying taking place outside of school with some of our students. The problem we have is, the disputes are then coming to school. Enough is Enough!! Can I suggest if your child is going to be a text bully, you as the parent take the phone away until they can prove to be responsible young adult! We will do our very best to rectify the problem however do not hesitate in getting the Police involved!
BUS SERVICE This is going great. Mr Berryman is enjoying the morning and afternoon drive. Please remember to let him know if you don’t need the service. Also any contributions to the cost of the diesel would be appreciated.
SCHOOL UNIFORM I am constantly reminding students about Shoes!! If your child is not wearing the correct shoes, contact will be made with the Parents. A plain black leather lace up is all that is required. Please no skate shoes, dolly shoes, slip-ons, sneakers etc. All parents have signed the enrolment card where it states the school uniform will be worn in its prescribed form. Thank you for your support.
SCHOOL REPORTS Please keep these in a safe place!!! They are required for enrolling at secondary school. All students received a written report in term 1 at the Student Led Conferences. The next full written report will be at the beginning of Term 4.
TIME FOR A CLEAN OUT? Your rubbish could be our Treasure!! Do you have any fabrics, containers, cottons, paper, house paints, wall tiles, timber, china, broken plates, jewellery, test pots etc. Please bring it in. Thanking you in advance.

A little something to read!
A promise to my kids. “I'm not your friend. I'm your parent. I will stalk you, flip out on you, lecture you, embarrass you, drive you insane, be your worst nightmare & hunt you down like a bloodhound when needed, because I LOVE YOU!! When you understand that, I'll know you are a responsible adult. You will NEVER find someone who loves, prays, cares & worries about you more than I do”. anon
Enjoy the holidays. I look forward to a very exciting term ahead of us.
Stay Safe
